Privacy Policy

Last Updated: April 13, 2025

We take your privacy seriously. We don’t want your data. We don’t want to track you. But we do collect just enough to keep the lights on and stop spam. Here’s everything, in plain English:

1. What We Collect

If you just visit the site:
We log anonymous traffic data using a self-hosted, non-invasive system. No third parties, no cookies, no unique IDs.

  • IP address (truncated + anonymized)
  • User agent string (to group browsers/devices)
  • Referrer and page visited
  • Timestamp

This is used only to see what pages get traffic and when. We don’t follow you across the site or build profiles. This information is not shared with anyone except managers. Not even moderators can see it.

If you submit a quote:
We temporarily log your IP and user agent fingerprint to prevent abuse. This is used for rate limiting and spam protection only. It’s automatically purged. No long-term storage.

If you create an account:
We store:

  • Your email address
  • A hashed password
  • An IRC nickname

This allows:

  • Viewing your own submissions
  • Receiving email when your quote is approved
  • Resetting your password

We don’t use this info for tracking, profiling, or anything weird. We don’t share it. Ever.

2. Cookies

We only use essential session cookies if you’re logged in. No third-party cookies. No tracking cookies. If you’re not logged in, we don’t set any.

3. No Third-Party Nonsense

We do not use:

  • Google Analytics
  • Facebook pixels
  • External ad networks
  • Cloudflare proxy tracking
  • Google Fonts or CDNs that leak data

All assets are self-hosted.

4. Session Fingerprinting (But Not Like That)

To keep things sane—like rate limiting spam or tracking whether you’ve already voted—we generate a random, anonymous session ID.

Here’s what that means:

  • When you visit, we create a random UUID and store it in your session.
  • It’s not tied to your IP, browser fingerprint, or anything uniquely identifying.
  • It stays active as long as your browser session does (or a bit longer, depending on your settings).
  • It’s only used internally—for things like preventing duplicate votes, managing abuse limits, or giving you a slightly smoother experience.
  • We don’t track you across the site. We don’t link it to anything personal. We don’t care who you are—we just need a way to know you’re not a bot (for a little while).

5. Your Rights

You can delete your account by contacting us.
You can request your data, but honestly — it’s probably just your email, a nickname, and some quote IDs.
If you’ve never created an account, we literally have nothing on you.
